I’m giving Spotify a try. They are doing their best to make this the worst streaming music experience possible.
I’ve been using the free account for a while and I understand that I’m going to be served ads. That happens to me on Pandora and usually it’s not a problem.
So what gives with Spotify?
In spite of their abundance of resources, data and information, they are seemingly incapable of matching the right ad experience to my listening experience.
It’s ridiculous.
We’ve spent years building meta data on music, and they can’t serve me up something cohesive to what I’m listening to?
If I’m three songs deep into the Bach’s Partitas for Solo Violin performed by Hilary Hahn, you can bet your bottom dollar that I don’t want to hear about Waka Flocka’s newest single.
I get it, I’ve been listening to Gucci and Waka all yesterday. That does not mean that I’m always on the march to destroy the block and rage as a trap-a-holic.
Hilary Hahn would actually cry if she knew OJ Da Juiceman was going to come blaring in as an intermission during her performance.
Who on God’s green earth thinks that I will be ready to buy / listen / engage with high hats and “hunnid thousand dollars, brick squad trappin” in between the Preludio and the Loure of Partita no. 3.
Who does that to a person’s aural senses? Spotify does.
